Prime Spot For People Watching!
Written by Jerm
This past Friday I decided to take my grandmother to Branson to see The Great American Songbook. We decided we would stay the night in Branson and return home on Saturday morning. When I am choosing lodging in Branson or any place for that matter I always think about the purpose of going that particular time. This time since it was just my grandma and myself the purpose was for fun and to visit. When we visit we also like to have a place where we can have a prime people watching location. PW is our favorite activity! LOL! I have passed by the Melody Lane motel on the strip many times and the wooden swings out by the road have always enticed me. This time I decided that this was the place for us. When we arrived at the Melody Lane the lady at the desk was very eager to find me some sort of a discount even though I didn't ask for one. She ended up giving me a discount, on account of grandma, for AARP. She didn't ask to see anything or even to see grandma. With that discount, all the taxes, etc. our room came to $65.99. I didn't realize how big the Melody Lane really was. It stretches clear to the back and around. Some of the immenities of this motel include a swimming pool/hot tub and a continental breakfast. We didn't use either of those things. The room itself was just your clean, basic motel room. One thing they didn't have that I like in a room is a coffee pot. I came prepared with my own coffee pot, 2 glass mugs, and all the coffee fixings. After the show that evening, we came back to our room made a pot of coffee, and my grandma had brought a pan of brownies down with us to have as a late night snack. We took our mugs of coffee and our brownies up to the swings that are sitting right next to the road for our visiting and people watching experience, LOL! When we got there all the swings were full but someone got up and left leaving us their swing. We really enjoyed sitting out there watching the cars zip by and listening to the thump, thump of the radios. I thought we were going to "out do" the other people sitting in the swings with our glass mugs of coffee and our brownies, BOY WAS I WRONG! The couple sitting next to use were enjoying a beer, and a large group of women on down the line were enjoying a FULL bottle of wine, with REAL wine glasses. BUT, we did enjoy watching them "attempt" to walk back to their rooms, ROFL!! We sat out there until 12:30 and had a really good time. So if you are nosey like me and want a place to watch everything going on then this is the place for you.
As far as food that evening before going to the show we ate at Quizno's and had a cup of soup and we split that new black angus sandwich that they are advertising on TV. It was really good!!
