Hidden Falls - Aspen Cabin

Aspen Cabin

Hidden Falls Log Cabins is a small cluster of beautiful log cabins nestled in a hardwood forest just 15 minutes south of Branson, Missouri. To find these cabins you must travel south from Branson on Hwy 65 to Hwy 86. Turn West and go to Jones Road. Turn left/south on Jones Road and follow the beautiful country road until you see several log cabins on the right side of the road. The road is all paved until you reach the streets where the cabins are located. The streets are gravel at that point, but were very well maintained.

Each cabin has a different floor plan with different amenities. The cabins are tastefully decorated although they are not all done in a "lodge theme". I suppose that some people like other decor besides lodge or log cabin decor.

We have stayed in two different cabins in 2009. We found the first one to be exceptionally nice. The second one not so much. See the details below.

In April of 2009 we stayed in the Aspen Cabin. It is a large cabin that can be rented as a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom cabin. We truly enjoyed the space to stretch out and rest when not in Branson seeing the sights. It was very peaceful out in the country with no highway traffic noise to block out the sounds of nature.

We were there for 3 nights. Our king sized bed was very comfortable. The bedding and decor in the master bedroom was tasteful and luxurious. The bathroom had a large shower and whirlpool tub along with a double sink vanity to make getting dressed so easy. The large walk in closet was located in the bathroom area.

The two other bedrooms were upstairs and shared a very large bathroom. One bedroom had a king sized bed and the other had twin sized beds. All were comfortable.

Just off the kitchen was a 1/2 bath. This was so nice to have on the main floor for those whose rooms were upstairs to use during the day and not have to climb the stairs.

The kitchen was quite large with all full sized appliances, a breakfast bar between the kitchen and dining room plus a work island. This is a wonderful kitchen for large families to prepare meals. All the appliances worked very well.

The dining room adjoining the kitchen was pleasingly large with a long table to seat eight. We were able to sit and enjoy meals.

Along with using the dining table for meals we were able to use it for the laptop computer that we brought along. There was an available wireless network to connect to. However it was extremely slow so don't plan on actually getting any work done while you are in this cabin.

The living room had a sofa, love seat and a comfy chair that faced the wood burning fireplace and television. The only drawback of this room is that the pool table was located to one side of the room and it really needed more room to play more easily. The pool table itself was in poor shape, but we played on it anyway and enjoyed it very much.

Out on the deck just off the kitchen was a deck with hot tub, barbeque grill and several chairs and small table. Being April it was too cool for us to want to use the hot tub, but it is there for those who do want to get in and relax.

This cabin would be great for two small families to share which is what we did on this trip. One large family would also find this cabin quite roomy. Two bedrooms with king sized beds, one bedroom with twin sized beds, a sleeper sofa will sleep 8 adults or more than that if there are kids to share one of the larger beds. There was also a port a crib and high chair in this cabin.

Downside: The downside to this cabin is that the decor could use some coordination and the help of a designer. The air conditioner needs to be thoroughly serviced before being used in the spring. It leaked condensation during our stay right over our bed, but the owners/managers came right out and took care of it. They unlocked the third bedroom and we slept in there on the last night of our stay. The door to the deck does not latch very well and guests need to double check it before leaving the cabin. The cleaning service is not very thorough. All in all it was a very nice place to stay.

Would I reccomend this cabin to others? Yes, I would.

Here are my points for this cabin. Points are on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest score and 1 being the lowest.

Cherokee Cabin

August 2009. Once again we headed our truck east and south to Branson, Missouri. This time my daughter, three children and I were on a quest for fun at one of the greatest places in the Ozarks. We had our sights on Silver Dollar City and anything else that caught our eye.

Reservations had been made at another cabin at Hidden Falls Log Cabins. We had stayed in this cabin complex once before in the past. See the April 2009 blogs. This time we were to stay in the Cherokee Cabin. The Cherokee is a two bedroom, two bath cabin that is just adorable. It was perfect for our party of five. With one king sized bed and one queen sized bed and a sofa bed the cabin could easily sleep 6 and more if they didn't mind sharing beds.

This cabin has a spacious living room, dining area, and kitchen combination. Between the kitchen and eating area and the living area is a pool table. The television was in the living area, but could be seen from the kitchen and dining areas. This kept little Spongebob fans happy.

The master bath had a double vanity and large walk in closet. Each bathroom had a shower, whirlpool tub and nice vanity area. The bathrooms needed to be more thoroughly cleaned but all in all were very nice.

A medium sized family would be very comfortable in this cabin.

Below are some photos of this cabin and a review score.

Upon returning home, I emailed the lady who books reservations for these cabins. She is either the manager or the owner of the cabins I think. Her name is Joann and she is extremely nice.
I told her about some issues with the cabin because she may not have been told by her cleaning staff. She was unaware of the ripped bedding and the other cabin problems. She was unaware that the cleaning staff had not been doing a proper job. She assured me that these issues would be taken care of right away.

Would I recommend these cabins to someone else. You betcha!

I stayed in the Aspen with my hubbie, my parents, my sister and her girlfriend. We had an incredible time. Even with there being so many of us, the cabin was big enough that we could avoid each other if we got tired of looking at the same faces for four days! The girls had a ball exploring the area nearby and us adults were content just to sit around on the deck relaxing. As soon we opened the door to the cabin, it was like the real world disappeared, taking all of our stress with it. The cabin was immaculate and very well decorated. The one time we did have a small problem (no propane and the microwave was electronically locked) they sent a man out to take care of it immediately. He was very courteous, worked fast and made sure not to interfere with what we were doing. If we hadn't let him in, we might not have known he was there! The bedrooms were quite large and had ample space for all of our stuff. There were also piles of extra blankets, pillows and towels stored away in the closets. The owners of this cabin are also very kid friendly, as they had a playpen and high chair in one of the closets, sippie cups and kiddie dishes and even a cute little baby spoon that changes colors when it gets too hot! These may seem like trivial things, but it shows just how thoughtful the owners are. The bumper pool was a bit confusing, but fun nonetheless and there is a strange game table at the top of the landing that we had no idea what to do with, but the girls had fun making up their own game with it. My father is disabled from a car accident and is in chronic pain, so it is very hard for him to sleep for too long or to stay in the same position. That was until he lay down in the bed. Not only is it huge, the mattresses were very luxurious pillow tops and boy were they comfortable. He was able to sleep almost the full night and with minimal tossing and turning. Needless to say, my folks will be buying themselves some new mattresses! All in all, we had a fabulous time for our vacation and probably will not be staying anywhere else ever again. The cabin is well worth the price and it's great for relaxation. It's also really close to Hollister if you need to go shopping or to pick up some fast food or take-out and it's only about 10-15 minutes away from Branson. We've stayed in the city (Branson) before and while fun, we much prefer to stay in the cabin where we can escape all of the noise and traffic, but can drive out if we feel the hankering. So, I say to you, if you're thinking about Hidden Falls and the Aspen, just do it! The only way you won't enjoy it is if you come there planning on having a lousy time. Although, I honestly believe that even if you plan on a bad vacation; once you open the door, you're going to forget why you were in a bad mood.

We have stayed at the Shawnee and their newest cabin the Dakota. We were extremely satisfied with both cabins. We would highly recommend staying here. We are going back soon and have already reserved our cabin!
