A True Celebration!

Written by Jerm

This was my first time to see this fairly new show. The show has not been talked about very much on the message board and think it is worthy of talking about. This is a BIG production about a young boy that doesn't understand why his father has to go off to war. The entire show is about this young boy's grandfather telling him about the history of this country and why it is important for our country to stand up for what we believe in. You start back in time with the founding fathers and you work your way through the pioneers, Civil War, the depression, etc. all the way up to present day. This show could not be presented in a more dramatic way. There are huge sets that are constantly being moved or lowered from the ceiling. One set piece that I really thought was amazing was the "World's Fair" set. It is stunning!! The cast is the show is also really wonderful!! You will notice some of them from other shows in town. One in particular that I noticed is Johnny Lonestar that has been with Country Tonite for so many years. He will treat you to some of his rope tricks and other things that I didn't even know he could do in this production. The dancing is this show is top notch. The dances reflect different eras in our nation's history such as the soft shoe, tap, etc. The HUGE screen they have in this shows allows for seemless transitions from one scene to another. One scene in particular that I thought was very touching is the Vietnam wall scene where a deceased friend is trying to comfort his living buddies. I was told that the same cast that performs in "Joseph" also performs in this show as well. I am not sure if Landon performs in this show or not. He was at a wedding the night I attended it. I want to go and check this show out and again to see what I might have missed the first time.
