I want a 60s Christmas!
Written by Suselit
I'm going to tell you right off that this is a Rave Review.
We saw #1 Hits of the 60s last year and it was such an enjoyable experience for us that we had to see it again this year. You can bet that we will see it next year, too.
The 1960s were very special years for me and my husband...we grew up in the 60s. All the songs that we hoped to hear were performed plus some unexpected 60s songs that we had forgotten were also our faves way back when. The instrumentals by the terrific 8 piece Band, The 60's Hitmen, were alone worth the price of admission.
This show is more than a musicial tribute show. It really is Musical Theater at it's best.
Each of the 8 member cast of performers has a great voice, but together their voices are rich and powerful. I loved the sets when the entire cast was singing and dancing those big production numbers - Awesome!
"Scrooge gets his Groove" was excellent. The blending of Charles Dickens' original words from "A Christmas Carol" with the lingo of the 1960s was inspired! The contrast of speech, worked so well with the fab costumes and brilliant song choices. Whoever brought this together was a genius.
"Scrooge" was played by an extremely talented Singer/Dancer/Actor. He brought Scrooge to life with style and grace. That guy really has the "moves".
I want to be fair and I have been searching my mind for anything negative...couldn't find anything, so I asked my husband and he said, "That show was alot better than the 50s Show we saw during afternoon."
I had even recommended #1 Hits of the 60s to my Boss the week before. She come back thanking me and saying she loved the show. So I feel confident recommending #1 Hits of the 60s to anyone.
#1 Hits of the 60's Review

On Wednesday night we saw #1 Hits of the 60’s. We saw the show last year and it was basically the same show except they took out the silly songs section. It was also the same cast except Matt Snow left and went to Silver Dollar City. Also Eric Eichenberger wasn’t there because he had to go to a funeral so the swinger was there. His name is Alex and we were impressed to find out that he had learned the show in only 2 days. We like many of the sections that they have like motown, the drive-in and the #1 hits from each year so you can see how the music changed. The bandstand section is a little long though. It’s disappointing that they don’t have any of the cast members sing solos and they don’t feature the band very much. But they are very good about doing songs only from 1960-1969 and not going into the 50’s or 70’s. We were also surprised that two of the cast members, Justin Sassanella and Patrick Schuster, remembered us from last year. The cast is very good. Lee Anne has very good face and is very entertaining to watch. Patrick looks a bit older than most of the cast members but he is one of the most entertaining people in the show. Robyn Mason is very cute and looks like she has a lot of fun. This is a very good show and we will continue to see it.

#1 Hits of the 60s
----------------------------------------------------------------------------****
I luv, luv, luv this Show!
Thank you to everyone who recommended it. You were right! I only wish I had followed your advice sooner so I could have seen #1 Hits of the 60s more than once this year. But - Great News! - The Show will be back in 2005! And I will be able to see it again.
The 8 piece Live Band provided authentic 60s Sound. The all important bass guitar really rocked 60s style. The Beat goes on. The 8 member Cast - 4 guys, 4 gals - are extremely talented and loaded with personality.
The whole Era, the Surfing Music, the Muscle Car Tribute, the Motown Beat, the British Invasion, The Peace Movement, etc....all the 60s music was done just right.
The Dancers captured the moves and grooves and I even spotted a couple of outfits that I wore back then....very authentic. And the Drive-In Segment was beyond cute!
I like the way #60 was produced....smoothly and effortlessly...very Broadway...very entertaining, very professional. I am now recommending 60 myself. You will have a good time at this show.
The theatre, The Musical Mansion, is on 248, just past the stop light at the corner of Shepard of the Hills Expressway and 248. Right before the Tri-Lakes Center. The theatre inside has a great slope...with the incline to the stage, so there are no bad seats. A good view from anywhere.
Since I work in a Nursing Home, I am always aware of access. The handicapped stall in the rest room was the first one. In many places, it's the last one, which makes it very difficult for someone in a wheelchair to reach it easily.
There was even a trolley to ferry people to their cars. And the parking lot was level!!!!
We are going to make this show one we see often. I loved the 60s Christmas Show, also. Did you know that A Charley Brown Christmas debuted in 1962? And I loved all the regular 60s music they did...any show that does Dusty Springfield music knows what 60s music really is. And LIVE EXCELLLENT BAND!
A greal overall experience. If you get the chance to see #1 Hits of the 60s, I think you will have a groovy time, Man.
