'57 Heaven Autos & Lifestyle Exhibit

The next stop for me on my tour was '57 Heaven Autos & Lifestyle Exhibit. The exhibit is located on the lower level and is accessible by elevator or stairs. (Tidbit: Make sure to pick up your headsets for the self-guided tour BEFORE going down the stairs. A "costumed character" should be stationed at the top of the stairs (on the theater level) that will supply you with them.) '57 Heaven is filled with all kinds of automobiles produced during 1957. You will see cars, trucks, motorcycles, a fire engine, as well as other vehicles. As you walk from automobile to automobile your headsets will educate you with specifics about each vehicle. Specifics such as the engine size, the colors, information about the interior of the vehicle, and also some interesting facts about the vehicle such as the previous owner, etc. (Tidbit: If you get tired of listening to the specifics of each vehicle, simply move on. The recorded information will start and stop each time you go to a new vehicle. This is an amazing piece of technology. As with any technology there are sometimes "bugs" that have to be worked out and this is no different. Sometimes as your passing by a vehicle the information may start and stop several times before playing in its entirety. A good tip to help remedy this problem is to look for "boxes" that are sitting on the floor under each of the vehicles and stand directly in front of them.

While all vehicles aren't covered during the "headset tour" most are. It is my understanding that they are working to add specifics to the other automobiles in the collection. If you are a more visual than auditory learner, this museum has also thought of you. Next to each automobile you will find fact cards that will give you a condensed down version of the "headset tour" that you can read for yourself.) In addition to seeing automobiles, you will also have the opportunity to experience what life might have been like during the 1950's with lifestyle exhibits set-up throughout the museum. In one exhibit you can "peep" through a window to experience what Christmas might have been like. What I enjoyed most about '57 Heaven was seeing all the different color combinations of vehicles back then. I liked looking at all the different shades of blue, purple, etc. There is even a vehicle that is pink and orange. Talk about clashing!
